Exams and Performance

Higham Lane Sixth Form is delighted to announce its latest 2023 set of A level results. Our students achieved an excellent 27% of grades at A*-A, 53% of grades at A*-B and 82% at A* to C. The overall pass rate was 99.3% with a highly creditable B- as the average grade per entry.

These results demonstrate very strong attainment with many students meeting the entry requirements for the top universities in the UK, job offers from employers or chosen higher or degree apprenticeships.

One student has gained a place to read Law at Cambridge and three have gained places to study medicine.

Amongst our strongest performers were William Luke (3 A*s), Joseph Talbot (3 A*s), Ben Taplin (3 A*s), Sanjit Gurung (2 A*s, A), Zac Fielding (2A*s, A and EPQ A), Kamyar Marashi (2 A*s, A and EPQ B), Lewis Burridge (A*, 2 As), Megan Evans (A*, 2 As), Alarna Gavin (A*, 2 As), Bethany Gresty (A*, 2 As and EPQ A). These students and many others have achieved their first choice university places.

Michael Gannon, Headteacher and Hanif Ladha, Head of Sixth Form, said, “We are extremely proud of our students as these are the first external exams they have taken due to their GCSE exams in 2021 being replaced with Teacher Assessed Grades. These results reflect their resilience and determination to succeed.  We would like to congratulate our students and staff on these excellent results and thank our parents and carers for supporting our students.  We wish the students every happiness and success in the future”.
