Higham Lane School GCSE Results 2023
Higham Lane School is delighted to announce that students have performed exceptionally well in the 2023 GCSE qualifications.
77% of students achieved 5 or more Standard Passes including at least grade 4 in English and Maths, an increase on both the 2022 and 2019 results.
88% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in English, 86% in Maths, 83% in both English and Maths and 82% in at least 2 Sciences.
Over a quarter of all GCSE grades awarded were the highest GCSE grades 9-7.
Acting Headteacher, Peter Banks, commented: “Despite government warnings of a fall in results nationally this summer compared with 2022 due to a return to pre-pandemic standards, our students have, in many cases, exceeded the results achieved by our students both last academic year and back in 2019 which was the last time that the same standards were applied when awarding grades. These results are particularly pleasing given the disruption these students suffered due to the pandemic lower down the School”.
Among the School's top performers were Emily Atkins (7 x grade 9, 4 x grade 8, 2 x grade 7), Lily Clements (6 x grade 9, 6 x grade 8, 1 x grade 5), Brennan Evans (7 x grade 9, 4 x grade 8, 2 x grade 7), Erin Harris (6 x grade 9, 6 x grade 8, 1 x grade 7), Anisa Dosanjh (4 x grade 9, 8 x grade 8, 1 x grade 7), Deena Mir (5 x grade 9, 3 x grade 8, 2 x grade 7), James Duncan (6 x grade 9, 3 x grade 8, 2 x grade 7, 1 x grade 6, 1 x grade 5), Sophia Keel (2 x grade 9, 9 x grade 8, 1 x grade 6), Simranjit Rathor (6 x grade 9, 1 x grade 8, 3 x grade 7, 1 x grade 6, 1 x Merit), Scarlett Chatwin (1 x grade 9, 8 x grade 8, 4 x grade 7) and Ollie Taylor (2 x grade 9, 6 x grade 8, 4 x grade 7).
Mr Banks added: “We are extremely proud of all of our students who have worked extremely hard, effectively supported by our highly-skilled and dedicated team of teaching and support staff and by their families/carers. These results reflect their resilience and determination to succeed. We wish them well for the future”.
